How to Block a Number From Leaving Voicemail on Samsung

  1. gregg6942's Avatar

I know how to block callers on my Note 5 using the phone app. But, they still can leave a voicemail. How can I stop that? Is there a setting I'm missing? Or is there an app that I haven't been able to find?...Thanks for any help.

You would have to contact your carrier.

I have found an app called Call Blocker No Spam Voicemail that claims to do this. I haven't had a call from the blocked # , so I don't know how well it works . It is free for 5 #'s,but it's only $1 to upgrade & get rid of the 1 ad I saw. Is anyone familiar with this app?

I've done some checking on many of the call blockers in the play store. Most of them work as far as preventing the phone from ringing but as far as preventing them from going to voicemail... well, none of them did that although a few said they could.

I did get tired of blocked calls going to voicemail once and asked my carrier (T-Mobile) to disable VM on my line and they did. It got added back automatically when I changed my phone number and I never got it disabled again.

I'm not sure there would even be a way to do this with a rooted phone. I'm giving up trying.

Maybe Google Voice. They have this feature:

Treat as*Spam: The caller will hear ringing and then be prompted to leave you a voicemail message. None of your phones will ring. The voicemail will be automatically marked in your inbox as Spam, and you won't receive a notification for the voicemail.

I'm not sure if Google Voice blocked feature works for voicemail. I have the True Calder ID app and use that to check and block calls. It's easier for me. Most are telemarketing so they don't leave voicemail, but some don't give up.

I had T-Mobile disable my voicemail. Anyone who knows me will just text me so anyone else who calls, I just call them back. I search Google for numbers I don't recognize and if they are a spammer, I block it.

The Mr. Number app let's you decide whether to send blocked calls to vm or have them pick up and hang up. All while not disturbing you.

Don't you look in the app store?? Call voicemail blocker works like a charm. Hangs up on spammers and all that.

Can you please share how to do this - select the option in Mr. Number where it automatically hangs up on the caller? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

On my last rooted phone I used Root Call Blocker and it would answer and hang up the call, silently. Haven't had the issue lately but it is nice to know that there are non root options available.

Easy to avoid voicemail when using any 3rd party app or even built in call reject or call blocking on your Android device. Just go to your devices call forwarding settings and find call forward line only and change the number there to +1-718-984-9970 which is a always busy line playing busy tone. Once you got that setup and saved then go to your phone's built in call block reject list and add any numbers that bother you or select from call log number or one by one to be blocked then save them. Now when a blocked caller calls you then they'll be automatically forwarded silently to the busy line and they can't leave you voicemails from that blocked number any more. Two things to remember with this setup only one Incomming or outgoing call can be in process with one call waiting call can happen because when that happens then any caller blocked or not will be forwarded to the constantly busy number and you can't dial your own number to check voicemail you'll be forwarded to the busy line as well. Use v.m. app or press 1 key on phone dialer to access your voicemail for checking or settings change. I hope this way helps you avoid voicemails from unwanted calls. Don't forget to setup unknown caller - blocked caller ID display in call reject block settings.

I looked at the description for Mr. Number and Hiya call blocker and it looks like the Hangup function is not supported by Android 5.0 or later. Which is incredibly dumb, so currently there is no good way to block VM.

I went back to using Extreme Call Blocker, seems I bought it before. It has an answer and hang up option. I also get a ton of calls from the same exchange every day, 856-353-xxxx. I replaced the x's with asterisks in the blacklist and they automatically get answered and hung up on, nice. It has a ton of other features that are useful.

Just so everyone who finds this knows Mr. Number and Hiya don't have the ability or options available on all phones to send the blocked calls to voicemail. If you read everything it says about the app in the app store it tells you this. I wish it would have the option to pick up and hang up on blocked calls for all cell phones and the software running on said phones but they don't which sucks big time.
